1970s Theaters

 

 

The Alvin Theater was built in 1927 and was named after Alex A. Aarons and Vinton Freeley. Today, it is called the Neil Simon Theater.

Shubert Theater

The Shubert Theater was built in 1913 by Lee and J.J. Shubert as a tribute to their brother Sam, who died in a train crash in 1905. It has rarely been dark ever since its opening in 1913.

Majestic Theater

The Majestic Theater was built by the Chanin Brothers in 1927 and traded to the Shuberts during the Depression (in exchange for the Century Theater on Central Park West).
